We are excited to share a first selection of photos of the creative explorations and urgencies that emerged. This year's summer workshop Hinges, Mirrors & Eclipses was grounded in the idea that the spatial, poetic and material imaginations provide a unique means of registering and creating transformation, of engaging the world and making a contribution.
We are moved and honored to announce that UNICEF’s Office of Innovation and Arts Letters & Numbers held a collaborative workshop to develop new pathways of understanding and identify solutions to global problems that embody our best hopes and aspirations.
Arts Letters & Numbers is pleased to announce our 6th summer workshop. Each year, we structure our summer workshop through a question or questions that address the moment we are in. This year we ask: CONSTITUTION. We frame Constitution as a constellation of questions with the hope that we can inhabit them and create new works, acts, and actions, that speak to the urgencies of our time.
More information and application form is now available
Dates and title are set for this years summer workshop. This year we will ask: Constitution.

We need to raise 25k in order to secure our facilities and maintain our ongoing programming throughout the winter. If you follow Arts Letters & Numbers and are moved by our commitment to explore arts and education through ceaseless communal endeavors, please take a moment during this holiday season and give at what ever level you can. Every dollar you donate to ALN will be multiplied in its impact through the volunteer efforts of our remarkable growing community.
Through their mutual love of books Cathleen and Troels will develop a workshop series to revolve around the many different aspects of the book – the book as a work of art, as a vessel, as knowledge, as an archive, as structure, as an anti-rocking device, as a gathering of papers, as a thing, as an object and subject at the same time. The book has a capacity to reach across disciplines as no discipline can renounce the book which is what makes it such a universal object/subject.
We are pleased to invite you to our first annual Benefit Dinner and celebratory Summer Workshop Performance!
We are pleased to invite you to our first annual Benefit Dinner, followed by a celebratory performance that will be the culmination of our summer workshop entitled "Galapagos: Now".
Infinite vast white landscapes of flour, drops of ink slowly diffusing into water, scans of skin and the sound of signs made on a chalkboard all intermingled with isotopes, periodic table food labs and late night Butoh screenings.
The Table has been set and the gestures continue.
Inspired by the Galapagos Archipelago and the knowledge transformations brought about as a consequence of Darwin’s five-week experience within their dense bio-diversity, it is with great pleasure that we announce our fourth summer workshop, entitled 'Galapagos Now:'.
The immersive workshop seeks to ask questions of this moment in history by directly engaging and inhabiting the space of original doodles collected from the Joint meetings of the AEC, GAC, MLC chaired by Robert Oppenheimer. We will dig into these artifacts as source root and excavate the multi dimensional / durational questions passing through them. The hope is that through a shared framework of conversations, questions and actions we will create new linkages, new questions and new works.
