A Day at The Mill with Grupo < > : Bookbinding Workshop, Performative Lecture, International Artist Dinner on December 19th, 2015

We are pleased to announce another Day at The Mill event. We will present a group lecture by five artists from the collective, Grupo < >, and gather up for a meal that invokes recipes from the artists' home countries. The day will start with an informal bookbinding workshop.

Binding Your Book
The bookbinding workshop is a part of the ongoing Building Bibliophilia series hosted at Arts Letters & Numbers. This workshop covers a few simple bookbinding techniques as a starting point for participants to make their own inquiries and experimentations with the book form.
Participants are encouraged to bring paper, prints, and other personal items to make their own personalized book, either as something beautiful to have for yourself or to give to a loved one.
Please bring anything you can think of that can be made into a book: prints, photos, pages from other books, and/or wrapping. We will provide all tools necessary for the binding as well as a selection of paper.

Subgenera of Contradictions, Artist Lecture by Grupo < >
Grupo < > are conceiving their first ever public lecture, Subgenera of Contradictions
Over the past year, five artists have come together to form the collective Grupo < >, organizing weekly meetings to develop writing and dialogue around their distinct practices while building a broader understanding of the histories that influenced them or their families who migrated to the United States.
The lecture itself is a work of art. Grupo < > are merging the artist lecture with elements of performance to create a complete work revolving around the collaborative writing they have produced over the last year.

An International Artist Dinner
After the lecture there will be an artist dinner hosted by Grupo < >. Each artist will prepare a few dishes inspired by their family’s origin. Based on these dishes, the dinner-guests will create their own plate as an interpretation of the day's theme.
