The week long Session by Chris Rose; ‘Deciding to See’ explores how, in our efforts to understand complex conditions, we may do more than just look into reflections of ourselves. Working with relatively simple ideas in language, seeing through drawing, and the aesthetic nature of the many perceptual dimensions that as humans we may bring together, it is possible simply to ‘see’ more and so experience the shared insight that identifies creative experience and creates new knowledge. In the workshop we will share some examples of the ways I have developed research activities in the broad field of design in a living material world, including human embodied cognition, conscious visual experience and creative freedoms in education.
