Free Weekly Life Drawing Sessions
Every Thursday | 6–9pm
February 19, 2026 — Ongoing
ALN Main Gallery, Second Floor
1548 Burden Lake Road, Averill Park, NY 12018
Free Admission | Materials Provided

Working directly from a live nude model, participants are invited to explore the fundamentals of figure drawing through sustained observation and experimentation. Sessions engage with gesture, contour, proportion, mass, volume, light, and tone, drawing upon contemporary and classical approaches to the human figure. The studio provides opportunities for both short observational studies and more extended drawing exercises, allowing participants to develop their own relationship to the figure, the materials, and the act of seeing.

Led by Paria Shahverdi, an interdisciplinary artist and fine arts educator, the sessions offer optional guidance and instruction while allowing participants the freedom to work independently and at their own pace. Emphasis is placed on the development of perceptual awareness, technical understanding, and an ongoing drawing practice. The weekly gatherings also provide an opportunity for members of the surrounding community to come together through a shared engagement with art, observation, and learning.

Drawing pads and basic materials are provided, although participants are welcome to bring their own supplies. All sessions are free, and no advance registration is necessary.
