Elsa Hammarén


Elsa Hammarén (b. 1999, Gothenburg, Sweden) is a photographer working with analog processes in both color and black and white. Her practice explores themes of identity, sexuality, and relationships through an intimate, diaristic approach.

In 2024, she completed the Director’s Fellowship program at the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York. Her ongoing project Andie, Darling, developed during her time at ICP, has been exhibited at Paris Photo, the PhotoVogue Festival in Milan, and Shared Spaces at the International Center of Photography, New York.

In 2023, Hammarén presented solo exhibitions at Studio Tabac in Stockholm and Ex Nihilo in Copenhagen, exhibiting chapters of her project SHY. Her work has been exhibited internationally across institutions and venues in Europe, Asia, and the United States, including Seoul, Lausanne, Paris, New York, and Milan.

Hammarén’s work has been widely published in magazines including Dazed, Athens Voice, Office Magazine, Vogue, and The Guardian.
