ALTERNATIVES / PIGBUTCHERING
PERFORMANCE
March 28, 2026
ALTERNATIVES
Eddie Jowels & Pigbutchering
An interdisciplinary performance engaging with both the roots of our past expression and alternative perspectives of love, social organization, empathy, and humanity's future.
‘Alternatives’ is an experimental, interdisciplinary exploration into sound, movement, and words, and how those essential elements of connectivity can be intensified to incite imagination, and magnified in order to offer new inward and outward perspectives of ourselves and the world.
The evening’s event will include both written and improvised music – past and present – dance, poetry, and the thoughts and musings of you, the audience.
A reception will follow the performance.

Pigbutchering
/bio
For over twenty years, Eddie Jowels, composer, performer, and educator, has immersed himself in the medium of music in distinctively diverse ways, fusing with styles ranging from noise, rock, hip hop and R&B, to jazz, classical, experimental composition, and improvisation. He believes in the power of imagination and wonderment, and it is through the mediums of music and art, and with the tools of pedagogy that he pursues the rejuvenation of these innate human characteristics in order to inform, connect, and heal others.
Pigbutchering is a culmination of Eddie’s lifelong fusion of styles, acting as a vehicle for new compositions, the communication of powerful sentiment and ideas, and free and reactionary improvisation. A fluid, diverse ensemble of seasoned musicians and artists, Pigbutchering engages with aleatoric elements and written prompts within non-traditional scores. The pieces composed for the ensemble are influenced by poetic form, historical incidence, concepts and theories of social organization, modern-day machinations, our undeniably sordid past, and our beautiful and forgotten human origins.
